Spiking the guns

In case it is not known what “spiking the guns” means I shall here give an explanation. First of all it had to do with cannon and large guns of the olden days. These had powder pored into them, large canon balls placed in them and the were lit by a fuse being stuck into a hole at the opposite end of the cannon from where the ball went out.

Now, when a large nail was stuck into this hole and pounded in the cannon became useless because it could not be lighted and set off. So “Spiking the Guns” prevented them from being fired.

And if you have not read the previous post you probably have no idea of what I’m talking about. So do read it. I printed it off and my whole family enjoyed it!
