I am going to attempt writing a story and it is four days until my birthday!

I am going to try to write a story of length, or at least one in which many adventures occur. Whether I shall succeed in my object or not has yet to be determined. So let it begin…

Once upon a time there was a young man of about twenty-two who went out into the world to seek his fortune. He had never fallen in love, as of yet, and had managed to live a very quiet and peaceful life. His name was Marcus. He set out from the village of his birth and traveled to the capitol city of the kingdom of Kelve, which was moderately nearby. Marcus met with no adventure on the way to the main city for the way unto it was a main road on which persons who minded their own business and expected everybody else to mind their own mainly traveled. There was little trouble or adventure on that road but great dullness was there.

On arriving at the capitol of Kelve Marcus wandered around for a while before his first major adventure, and the reason for the rest of his adventures, occured. For suddenly, from the other end of the street, he heard a voice that was definitely not melodious yelling “Make way for her royal highness the Princess Dwelthia”. Marcus quickly made way but managed to make his way to a spot that commanded an excellent view of where the princess was going to pass. She passed but while she was passing the damage was done for with one look at the beauty of the Princess Dwelthia Marcus fell in love. Whether or not this was reasonable or not or whether it will aid to the happy ending of the story has yet to be determined but the fact that Marcus fell in love with Princess Dwelthia remains.

Now this princess was so very lovely that instead of having a dowry as most princess’s and ladies of rank had, she had a bride price. Which roughly meant that the man who wished to marry her would have to give her father something for the honor of having her hand in marriage. The main significance of this was that in Princess Dwelthia case, ANYBODY who had the bride price could marry her, even if he was a commoner like Marcus. This, as you may guess, put a gleam of hope in his breast, but only a gleam for the bride price of Princess Dwelthia was no less that the Diamond of Brightness that lay hid in the Caves of Darkness and was guarded by the Monster of Fierceness.

Still, even though he knew that many had unsuccessfully tried to obtain the Diamond of Brightness Marcus still decided to set off and try to obtain it. As he journeyed toward the Caves of Darkness Marcus learned that traveling through wilderness is quite different from traveling on main roads and that inns do not abound where travelers are few. But with the memory of Princess Dwelthia beauty always before him Marcus made light of difficulties and journeyed onward.

When he arrived at the Caves of Darkness and looked into them Marcus’s first thought was that the Caves of Darkness had little light in them. Therefore he light a torch and brought a few spares in with him so that he could see in the Caves of Darkness. Carefully he went through the caves searching for the Diamond of Brightness. Finally he saw it in all of its shining glory but he also saw the Monster of Fierceness! The Monster of Fierceness let out a roar that would have struck fear into the heart of anyone. But Marcus’s heart was so completely Princess Dwelthia’s that it had no room for fear. He stood and faced the Monster of Fierceness and calmly asked the Monster of Fiercenss if he would please give him the Diamond of Brightness so that he could take it and marry the Princess Dwelthia. The Monster of Fierceness looked puzzled, for usually strangers attacked him or tried to get the Diamond of Brightness instead of politely asking him for it. However the Monster of Fierceness quickly regained his composer and wits and told Marcus that since he asked so politely he could take the Diamond of Brightness but that if, in seven days time, a black cat did not cross his path he would eventually die. Marcus joyfully thanked the Monster of Fierceness for the Diamond of Brightness, which he carefully hid so that the other suiters of Princess Dwelthia would not forcibly attack him with their Weapons of Sharpness.

Quickly Marcus journeyed back to the capitol of Kelve and handed the stone to the king and demanded the Princess Dwelthia’s hand in marriage. He was generally stared at for few had succeeded in coming back alive and still fewer in one piece and that a young man, who bore no marks of the fierce wrath of the Monster of Fierceness, should bring the Diamond of Brightness to the king and demand the Princess Dwelthia’s hand in marriage was a very strange thing indeed. But the king granted the Princess Dwelthia’s hand in marriage to Marcus and she was brought in and Marcus thought her even more beautiful than he had remembered her to be.

So they were married and hopefully lived happily ever after but though Marcus had the Princess Dwelthia’s hand in marriage he didn’t have much else and as I doubt that charming young princess could do other than be a charming young princess his chances for nice hot meals on time may have been slim but being a young man well suited to difficulties if only he could have the object of his affections, I don’t think he minded. Besides I have a feeling he, at least, could cook. So probably they did live happily ever after. THE END

MORAL: Make certain that you try asking politely first before using other methods and make certain if you wish to have a nice clean house and well cooked meals that you marry somebody who can do it, that or learn how to do so yourself and make an attractive young lady who does not like such things very happy.

Well, there is as much story as I feel like writing this evening. Hopefully you enjoyed it and quite frankly, I do recommend learning to cook and clean if you are a young man(My Mother would flaunt the moral into my face if I omitted the young part) so that if you meet a charming, beautiful, and talented young lady who does not like such things you can do them and thus smooth out many domestic hitches. I think I need to read less of Dickens or something because my writing style is behaving strangely this evening. Perhaps it has something to do with my sixteenth birthday which is rapidly approaching. Presents would be nice. I do hope that no one thinks the previous sentence was random, because it had a distinct connection to the sentence before it. I think I’ll probably print this off tomorrow morning for breakfast as I haven’t been hinting a lot about my birthday recently, comparatively, and it may be time for some subtlety in my hinting processes. :) Oh, and the time is still off on my posts. I am finishing this around 12:10 AM on Thursday though I started on Wednesday.
