Worse than Mordor?
To explain the situation, After the end of the Sixth grade I started a new school course where I did all of my school on the computer. Before that time I was working out of work books, and like a normal child, not liking it. School on the computer was nice because I got a laptop to do it on and was able to figure out how to switch between the school program and other things. Since we normally had a timer that would tick very slowly through the half hour of school and very fast through the half hour of break
I sometimes would be doing something else to speed up the school time. Then came the days where there wasn’t any supervision, and I could do school when I liked. Now when I understand what I am doing and it is not too difficult and I have a couple of hours free, I can do a whole months schoolwork for a subject in one day! The problem is that my laptops have a habit of “MEMORY FAILURE” and I lose all of my school status and have to start over again… That hasn’t happened too much but the year before last my Dell laptop stopped around September/October and it didn’t want to revive, so I got a Eowyn, my Mac Ibook, for christmas. Unfortunately(Or fortunately
my school program doesn’t work on a Mac… So “Virtual PC” was installed. It didn’t take me long to find out that it ran slower than a snail and changing between problems could take thirty seconds. And on top of that I lost all of my school work several times and it messed up Eowyn… So my school was installed on a desktop, which failed a few months ago and my Mom’s old Dell laptop was made my school computer and dubbed Arwyn. Arwyn hasn’t failed yet(mainly because I know not to leave it running in it’s case and burn the screen, and not to use it in the car where the monitor hinges get ruined from bouncing around, and not to constantly switch batteries with my Brothers Dell whose batter charging mechanism inside the computer failed. And It probably hasn’t failed because it hasn’t been turned on in a couple of months…)
So what this turns up to is: A, that I feel like typing a lot(This was never meant to be this long) and B, that I hadn’t done any school work in a while, I still had work from the previous grade incomplete, and it didn’t look like it was going to get done. Then I believe my Mom decided it was time for us(I mean Andrew and me) to get some school done since she wants us to finish our grades by June(I have my doubts about that happening) So she decided on getting us working on school again. I started a video course on Algebra and a workbook course on Algebra. And a work book on Language and I will soon start another video and workbook course for Science. Fortunately for me, in one of my spurts of productivity I had finished ALL of my ninth grade history. That was helpful.
How ever the reason for this post was to resolve a problem that suddenly occurred to me. I call the “Shop”(machine shop in some terms, I stick bolts on clamps that hang lights and do other stuff) where I work “Mordor” Of course that is only a nickname, it isn’t as bad as Mordor and I do like getting my paychecks but I now have a problem, If working in the shop is tolerable and I call it Mordor, What I am going to call my School time which is worse than Mordor? I guess I will have to read the book again and see if I can find a place that is worse than Mordor… Maybe Shelobs lair or Minas Morgal or the huge deserted city where you can’t think and everything is poisoness and… I think I will have to look up the name of that place. Or maybe I will just have to call school time WTM or Worse than Mordor. And unfortunately I just spent my break-time writing this instead of doing what I intended to do. Oh well, maybe some one will find this diverting.
