December 25, 2004

12. At home it is 2:34 on Wednesday but it is Tuesday here

I have been getting worse as the cruise progressed. At first I was very good at not watching the TV not eating too much white flour and sugar etc. I ate SIX deserts today. Four pieces of pineapple colada, a bit of raspberry pudding which I didn’t like much, and chocolate ice cream. However they all were sugar free.

“Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about and are not much to listen to while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating and even gruesome may make a good tale and take a deal of telling anyway.” Um, you may be able to guess where that was from. But it does seem applicable in this case. I’ve had a wonderful time over these last few days and yet I don’t really have very much to write about them. HOWEVER, I do have something that falls into the uncomfortable, palpitating and even gruesome category but I think I’ll save that for another post as it will fit perfectly!

11. Yesterday I did not write a post

Today is Tuesday December 21, 2004. Yesterday I learned how to make a ribbon rose and folded towel animals that are really cute. In addition to this I used three or so exercise machines, one for bicycling, one for walking, and one for stair climbing. I got very tired.

Today I haven’t done much more than wake up and since it is time for breakfast this will have to do for a post.

10. Be it known to you that a Munt-jack is a Japanese barking Deer

I have not written a post for some time, but I still have written more posts than I have days I’ve been away so I’m currently alright. They have excellent ice cream on Norweigen cruises. I made a Kukui nut lea yesterday. Today we were supposed to go to Fanning Island but as we were eating an early breakfast an announcement came across the system and stated that due to adverse whether conditions we weren’t going to go there. Or, it was more of a “if the weather permits we will go”. However the whether did not permit so we did not go to Fanning Island. Or actually we did not set foot on Fanning Island however we did see it and where in its waters. So today was a very quite day. I watched an episode of I love Lucy and I mainly just slept, rested, and cross stitched today. Only five days until Christmas!

9. I just made a beaded Geko

It is still Saturday and I just went up to the observation lounge for a beading class. I made a very cute little beaded Gecko with pink and yellow beads and brown eyes.I met two nice ladies that I sat with at the class. They were the mother and grandmother of a fourteen year old girl named Tori who wasn’t at the class but I may get to meet her later. Right now I am going to go get something to eat and I may take my little Gekko with me.

8. I think I am getting used to the time zone here

It is now the morning of Saturday December 18th. I am about to go to breakfast with Mom and Dad. I didn’t wake up quite so early this morning. Last night we went to dinner at the four seasons restaurant and our water was very nice. I had fish and I liked it to some extant. I also had vanilla icecream and some sort of cakeish thing. Apparently every other day I’m eating two desserts.

I started writing a story shortly after the previous post. Currently it is in story/plot mode where I hope to get the story down, and then polish up what needs it or perhaps write it in book form. I’m not exactly sure where it is going to go from the point I wrote it to but I’m very interested. I suppose it does have it’s advantages to write a story that even you don’t know the end of, it definitely keeps me interested in finishing it! But first to breakfast and then I shall see how this day will pass.

7. It is the afternoon of Friday December Seventeenth

Today has been, interesting. I woke up early as usual having gone to bed early as usual despite the fact that I hadn’t watched all of the Return of the King. As it was too early for breakfast I continued watching Return of the King and then Mom and Dad called and I found out that my clock battery was Dad and I could have eaten breakfast two hours ago. So I went to eat breakfast with them. After breakfast we made our way back to the rooms and I forget the exact procedure of events. Or actually I remember now. I finished breakfast before Mom and Dad did and I then proceeded back to my room to continue doing what I had been doing before. Around nine thirty this time Mom wanted to look at the shop specials so we went and looked at them. I’ve seen better shops and this is definitely not an advertisement, paid or otherwise, for the shops on board the Norwegian Wind. After the shops, and after excessive hinting, I went to Mom and Dads room and brought my computer as well as the extended edition of Return of the King. Mom downloaded pictures and Dad and I watched the first disc of the movie, with me using the skip and fast forward buttons as I do not like Gollum or Arwen. You know, not that many people would pick Gollum and Arwen together as their least favorite characters. I just don’t like the story line thing they put in for Arwen. It’s not in the book although I realize they put it in because Arwen is not a major character and is hardly in the story at all except at the end where she marries Aragorn.

But let me cease from this talk about the characters of the movie. After watching most of Disc One we went for lunch in the four seasons restaurant and I had some delicious cream of carrot soup. After that I went back to my room and took a nap. On awakening from my slumber I watched Bugs Bunny cartoons and then feeling the manifestations of hunger within me I traveled from hence to the Buffet where sandwiches of many varieties awaited my consumption. When my hunger was satisfied I returned hence and decided that a post must be written and… I started writing it! So now I’m caught up on current events. Probably later Dad and I will watch Disc Two of the movie. I’ve almost finished cross stitch a picture of a dragon holding a teddy bear. It should be quite cute when it is done.

So far other than writing these posts I haven’t done any other writing on this trip. I hope to remedy that soon. Hopefully when I return I will have a fairly good story written. However first there are some Daffy Duck cartoons that are requiring my attention…

6. The Quest is Over…

I now have the object of my long quest. There is an old saying that “Third Times the Charm” and on my third trip to Walmart since coming to Hawaii I got The Return of the King. I can hardly wait to watch it. So if you are wonder what I did in Hawaii I went to Walmart.

On getting to the island which we are currently at, which is the main island, we rented a Mini Van from Hertz(this is not a paid advertisement for Hertz, or for Mini Vans either) and then we went directly to Walmart where I went directly to the DVD section and got an Extended edition of the Return of the King into my clutches as quickly as I possibly could.

After Walmart, where I also got some snacks as I was hungry since it had been over an hour since breakfast, we wento the Volcano park and looked at lava. Now, riding around in a Mini Van isn’t very adventurous but riding around in a mini van with both sliding doors open looking at a volcano spewing out lave is rather adventurous. Since everybody but me has cameras with them and is taking pictures I sat in the middle seat and just enjoyed my self. We mainly had the doors open to take pictures out of them without stopping the car. I think that inbetween everybody at least a thousand pictures a day are taken. I believe that God should be sincerely thanked for digital cameras.

The volcano area was really neat. We walked on now cooled lava and drove along a road built on top of it. And then we returned to the ship after several hours of volcanoing. Which is currently were we are at now and it is about time to go eat again.

Today I discovered something. My Dad thinks that for a certain fact I have something called “Hyper Glycimia” though I may have the spelling wrong. I do think I have all of the symptons. I have to eat every few hours and if I eat sugar it has a very negative effect on me. Fortunately I think I also have a high metabolism rate because though I eat plenty and often I’m not particularly fat.

This evening/afternoon I have the delightful prospect of watching things before me as I also got two disc of cartoons. But one thing I am really going to watch, probably, is the parts of the movie with Farimir and Eowyn. The parts with the two of them in the book were probably my favorite of the whole book. After all that each had gone through, and after all I had gone through in the book it was very nice to have a “romantic” bit of the book. And in case you know nothing at all about Farimir and Eowyn, they got married and had the only romance in the book that was detailed from their first meeting to the wedding, or maybe it was just to the official betrothal but I’m pretty sure it made it to the wedding.

So now off to eat!

5. Insert Cool Title Here

It is a few hours since my last post. We went to Deck 12 for a breakfast buffet, It was very delicious but the restaurant was quite crowded. I now have a clock out set on Hawaiian time as my room did not have a clock in it. I just took a shower. I don’t know whether it was because I didn’t understand how the many and strange knobs worked or wether it was because the shower disliked me or whether because there is no hot water on the ship but I had a fairly cold shower. In fact I still feel cold from taking it.

We are about to dock on another one of the islands. It is the largest of the Hawaiian islands I think. We will probably go see a volcano. I’m hoping we get to go to Walmart or something as my quest for the extended edition of the Return of the King is far from over.

So far what I’ve seen of the ship is nice. The crew etc. are friendly. I will probably do more exploration later as I have not yet seen much of the ship. I especially want to investigate the ice cream bar… It probably isn’t free though. It might be though… And that would be nice!

4. Thursday the Sixteenth, early in the morning

Or actually at home it is 11:42 but here it is a bit earlier. I have a very pretty stateroom, though it is fairly small and crowded. I have two portholes and though the curtain is drawn over them I can see the faint light of morning. I’m fairly hungry too.

I believe I have neglected to mention that at Walmart I got a Hawaiian dress which is bright yellow with huge sunflowers. Mom got one just like it and the boys all got Hawaiian shirts. We wore them to dinner last night. It was a good dinner. I had a caesar salad and some delicious tortolini and TWO desserts though I didn’t eat all of them. I had butter pecan ice cream and a chocolate brownie. They were sugar free though of course.

My mother just called to say that it is time for breakfast in fifteen minutes. I am very hungry so I will probably end this post and get read for breakfast.

3. I have been to Walmart Twice since the last post and I am now on the cruise ship

Shortly after writing the previous post Mom Dad and I went to Walmart. It seems like ages since then. It was dark out. Investigation of Walmart produced a very full shopping cart. I got some embroidery thread and plastic canvas. They were out of stock of the DVD I had wanted to buy. I am not writing this post in the most pleasant and cheerful spirits. I’m hot, tired, and sleepy so probably later I’ll write a very cheerful post once being on the cruise ship has cheered me up.

After Walmart we returned to the hotel and had a very delicious breakfast buffet with the boys. I ate quite a lot. They had very good cantaloupe.

Then we drove to Diamond Head, a mountain something. On the very top they have somebody with a table of documents that said “I made it to the top of Diamond Head and survived”. At the time I wonder whether I would make it to the bottom of Diamond head as it was a long hike up to the top. There was a stair and then a dark tunnel. Read along towards the end of “The Two Towers” for what I was thinking about during the end of the climb. It was a long way up and then down and my legs are still tired.

Then, after Diamond Head, we rode around in our rental vehicle for a while. We saw some large waves and ate at Subway. Then we went back to Walmart with my brothers. After that we went to the hotel and got our luggage, made it to the cruise ship and now we are on it after checking in. On boarding the ship we were given lovely leas and the boys were given shell necklaces. It will soon be time for our life jacket drill. Which means that I will need to end this post. I’ll probably write another one later. Mom is currently in my room as Dad has not checked in yet and due to the fact that I am under eighteen I “can’t” officially have a room by myself. However Mommy is going to be in Dad’s room.

End of Post and I’ll write another when I’m not so tired and when I’m cheerful.
