Well, I’ve started the week off well
I already have all of the morning things on my to do list done and it isn’t even 10:00 yet! That is nice. I am rather tired and sleepy today too. Hopefully coming up soon will be an amusing short story. Right now I don’t think I could do one but maybe I’ll try…
Once upon a time there was a butterfly whose wings were the most beautiful golden hue that it would dazzle your eyes just to look at. Sadly the butterfly could not flit around from flower to flower for it was made of gold. However, being made of gold has its advantages for, since it wasn’t alive, the butterfly didn’t know what it was missing.
But one day the Blue Fairy, who was on her way to visit Pinochio, showed up and changed the golden butterfly into a real living breathing butterfly. However it still couldn’t flit from flower to flower because gold is so heavy that it’s rather hard to fly when made of it.
Unfortuately the Blue Fairy had left before this discovery was made by the butterfly so it just lay flattened on the table until it’s owner came in. He was rather displeased with what had happened and since the butterfly could no longer stay posed and flopped around occasionally he gave it to a naturalists friend of his who had a handsome son. I believe the romantic part of the story may be approaching…
The handsome son liked the poor little golden butterfly and took care of it and fed it and carried it around. One day while he was doing this the handsome son saw a lovely princess surrounded by her ladies in waiting walking through the forest. The princess sat down and the handsome son approached with the butterfly. He somewhat shyly informed the princess that she was sitting on a tree stump covered with poison ivy and that poison ivy covered the glade. The princess left hastily as did her ladies in waiting.
All but one, who tripped, and of course the handsome son aided her to regain her feet and afterwards they introduced themselves and the handsome son showed her the butterfly and told her it’s tale while they walked around the forest. They met on several occasions after that and finally they fell in love and got married and lived happily ever after.
But as for the golden butterfly… Well, finally the Blue Fairy showed up again and changed it back into a gold statue of a butterfly because the butterfly really didn’t like being a real butterfly. So the butterfly stood on the mantle piece and was lovingly dusted and admired by the happy couple. So everything ended happily for everybody since after a while poison ivy will go away.
MORAL: When wandering in a forest be very careful where you step. And Gold can be very heavy.
