Oops, I forgot!
Today has been very busy. It started out with Mom and I going to Lowes and Walmart right after breakfast, and we did not leave Walmart until it was almost Lunchtime. At Walmart I bought the fabric for an outfit I’d been planning on making so in the afternoon I made it. Then I finished cross stitching a project I’d been working on and then I decided to design another cross stitch design after spending some time looking for something appropriate on the internet to cross stitch. It took a while to design exactly what I wanted and while I was still doing this one my Uncles arrived for a visit. His visit was not unexpected, in fact we probably would not have gone to Walmart and Lowes this morning if he hadn’t been coming.
What I am attempting to say is this, I’ve been a bit too busy to think about posting today and especially to think about story writing but as I think I said I’d write a story and put it on here and as it is high time for another story, I’ll attempt to write one. I do warn you however that I am tired right now and not very creative and I’ve been listening to an audio recording of Lord of the Rings all afternoon… This usually has an effect on my writing.
Once upon a time there was a kitchen. In this kitchen were many and many cabinets, though the cabinets had no doors and therefore were more of enclosed shelves than cabinets. There were many dishes upon the shelves in the cabinets for the Lady of the House was fond of plates, especially plates which had lovely designs imprinted on them. Indeed, to her mind, food tasted ill unless it was upon a plate of lovely design and manufacture. Even the stalest and most boring of baked goods tasted like the most delicious confections upon one of her lovely plates. But there was a drawback to her culinary felicity, for while fine plates could enhance the taste of food to her, for others the effect was hardly even perceptible. But this did not bother them, for usually the food that was cooked in that kitchen would have tasted exceedingly delicious upon even the dullest and most unattractive of dishes.
But one day a bitter drop came to the household of domestic tranquility. There was an earthquake which shook the lands with a mighty shaking, for a dark power was rising out of the East and was about to spread fire and darkness throughout the lands! The earthquake, as you might expect, quite ruined the dishes and they fell breaking into pieces. Moreover the earthquakes continued and did not cease so that new dishes could not be purchased and brought home before being broken. And indeed, journeying to places where shopping could be done was now perilous. Now there is an old saying, as old as the hills which states, “When Mamma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy. When Daddy ain’t happy, nobody cares.” Despite the fact that the truth of the second statement may be doubted the truth of the first statement was plainly seen in this case for all three sons of the Lady, and her mighty husband, rose up and decided to seek the cause of the earthquakes, and destroy it so that they could see joy and happiness up the face of the Lady once more.
In this they were greatly encouraged by the daughter of the Lady who lent her sword collection to them willingly. Missed going shopping she did. Therefore the four men journeyed into the dark lands and fought and destroyed the Dark Lord and brought back unbroken and sturdy plates of elegant design to make the heart of the Lady rejoice. And with the restoration of joy, peace, plates, and shopping to the land they all lived happily ever after! THE END!!!
In case you are wondering where the idea for this story came from, my mother has just gotten several new sets of dishes. In fact, the kitchen cabinets(which don’t have doors by the way) are just chock full of dishes. There are dishes everywhere! In fact the kitchen can’t hold them all and some are elsewhere out of the house and in storage. So I suppose the Moral of this story would be…
MORAL: When all else fails and something needs must be written, write something you know about.
