My new computer game
They gathered together, the cats of might
And solemnly chanted
“There will be no bird tonight!”
That has nothing to do with my principal subject but was inspired by several things which were discussed at dinnertime.
So, I have a new computer game. It’s fun, and not too hard. Two very important things by which I judge computer games. It’s called “Office Work”. Previously I’ve done level one “stuffing envelopes” but today I reached both level two “printing invoices” and level three “posting invoices”.
In level one you have to look out for invoices with more than one page and make sure the address is clearly readable on the envelope and the stamp is in the correct place.
In level two you have to be on your toes because every few invoices one prints out wrong with the number from the invoice you just printed but the order total from the previous invoice. Thus someone who had purchased $1,180.00 dollars worth of product might get a bill of $98.71 if you are not on your toes. Naturally mistakes can be costly so paying attention is a must. I was quite good at it. Once I figured out what was going on I learned the sure fire way to tell when an invoice was printed wrong without even looking at it. Thus I was able to predict and promptly shred(then reprint) the incorrect invoices before they reached the manager who double checked them.
Level Three, posting invoices, was a far more monotonous process. Not much would go wrong and you only had one page down, one click then two enters to press per invoice. However, the wait between the button pressing was quite long and to be quite time efficient required concentration so as to be able to press the buttons at the soonest possible time, but one had to be careful not to move onto the next step before the previous one was done. For the adventurous one could try changing the music channel in between the longest wait in the posting process. This however could attract the attention of the manager who used to do the posting as they knew well their aren’t that many clicks that rapidly in the posting process.
Or, in other words. I’m now working in the office of my parents business. I consider it to be a massive improvement to my previous job in the assembly area (Search for Mordor(Though it’s been a long time since I called it that. I used to like it. But it’s very tiring)). For one thing, working in the office is not so exhausting, and for another I look on it like a video game! I have excellent skills with computer toleration and blissfully assuming that the computer bugs will right themselves naturally after everyone else has given up on a solution. I’m fairly good at paying attention, providing it is to a video monitor, and I like the fact that I am being paid in real money that I can spend or save etc. So I’m pleased with that.
In other news, I’ve lately been having an extremely dull time with my writing. Not much has been going on and I certainly haven’t finished anything lately other than a very short short story. However, I’m planning to get some new inspiring soundtrack music for Christmas. First I’m going to see whether I’m given it and if I don’t get it as a present I’m buying it. Back to the point, it may help me writing again. And I just read a rough draft beginning that I thought was really interesting. I was “Wow, did I write that?” when I read it. It held my interest all the way to shortly after the beginning of chapter three where this sentence was written “Apparently Drave and myself were at a place where neither of us knew where to go next.” and apparently I didn’t know what would happen next so there the story stopped, I would estimate it’s been stopped for about seven months now. But the story would fit in well with the new soundtrack music I’m getting. So maybe I’ll dust it off and make a plot to go after the great opening and some back story and so forth and voila, there I’ll have it! Then I’ll just have to write it… Oh well, from the length of this post I think I’m getting some of my writing back. So maybe I’ll have a story finished sometime soon. Maybe… Anyway, Merry Christmas!!! God bless you!!!
